Meet Your Team!

It’s nice to put a face with a name

  • I was born and raised in Merrimack, New Hampshire and I am a proud member of the graduating class of 1995. I didn’t stray too far when it came time to head off to college. I attended Saint Anselm College in Goffstown, New Hampshire, class of 1999, majoring in Environmental Science. You heard me correctly, Environmental Science.

After graduation, I joined Fidelity Investments as a trader. At the time, I didn’t even know what a mutual fund was, but Fidelity assured me that they would teach me everything I needed to know, which they made good on their promise. It was a short stay at Fidelity, as my future wife “suggested” that I move to Massachusetts to be closer to her. In 2000, I responded to an ad on Monster.com which is how I met Richard Prout, the founder of Stonehearth Capital Management.

For the first couple of years at Stonehearth, I was entrenched in portfolio management design, strategy, and product analysis. I learned a lot in those first couple of years, which also coincided with the dotcom crash. At the time, Rich told me that this experience would forever change who I am, how I think, and how I manage money. Boy was he right.

In 2006, I passed the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP) exam. The CFP® was designed to teach designee’s how to help families meet their financial goals and to plan for their future. I spent the next 11 years co-managing client portfolios and building, analyzing, and monitoring client financial plans.

In 2017, I purchased Stonehearth Capital Management and now serve as the firm’s President and CEO. It is with great pride and excitement that I will lead our firm forward, surrounded by an intelligent and supportive team with a shared vision to help clients meet their financial goals. I will continue the tradition established by our founder, to always do what is in the best interest of our clients. As fiduciaries for the families we support, it is our obligation and our top priority.

I have called Amesbury, Massachusetts home since 2002 where I live with my wife, Mary, and two daughters, Meryn and Adelyn. In my spare time, I play and coach soccer and enjoy time in the White Mountains skiing, boating, and fishing.

  • I joined Stonehearth Capital Management in June 2013, bringing with me 15 years of investment management experience, working with both institutional and individual investors. As the Chief Investment Officer, I am responsible for setting the firm's overall investment policy and strategy including directing our asset allocation, investment risk, research, and portfolio management functions.

Prior to transitioning to Stonehearth, I was a partner at a startup U.S. Long/Short equity Absolute return hedge fund. I began my career at Putnam Investments, where I was a member of the Multi-Cap Growth team responsible for managing over $7 billion in assets, including 15 separately managed accounts. I earned my Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter in 2004 and became a member of the Boston Security Analyst Society (BSAS).

I currently reside in Gloucester with my wife Jen and three children, Elizabeth, Sean, and Ryan. Outside of the office, I can be found in and around Cape Ann, enjoying the outdoors with my family or scuba diving off the coast.

  • I graduated Westfield State College with a business degree and like any recent graduate, had high hopes to start a career, I just had no idea where. I found myself in the automotive world and continually learned as much as I could. Eventually, it was no longer fulfilling and I realized I wanted to focus more on helping people. In the fall of 2013, I joined the Stonehearth Capital Management team and the rest is history.

On any day, I find myself wearing many hats, including working on client plans, supporting the team, facilitating operations, and making sure the firm runs smoothly.

The best part about working at SCM is being able to use my love of organizing to help people get their financial life in order. The process of getting all the information and data into one place is just as much a relief to me as it is to our clients.

  • I joined Stonehearth Capital Management in February 2015 as a Client Service Associate. I proactively support Stonehearth’s advisory team while focusing on providing exceptional client service to our clients. I oversee the firm's marketing, social media, event planning, and website management as well as directly assist our Chief Compliance Officer with compliance related projects and tasks.

Before I began my career, I graduated from Wingate University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and completed my Master of Science degree in Public Relations from Lasell College in 2014.

During my collegiate years, I became a member of Chi Omega, where I served as the fundraising chair in an effort to raise money and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and later served as the Area Recruitment Information Chair for the Greater Boston Alumnae group.

When I'm not in the office, you can find me instructing at a local indoor cycling studio, traveling, going to the beach, attending a country concert or spending time with my family and friends.

  • I joined Stonehearth Capital Management in 2016 as a Senior Financial Advisor, bringing with me over 20 years of experience in the financial planning and wealth management experience. I also am a member of our firm's Investment Committee.

I began my career, after graduating from St. Michael’s College, working for a financial advisory practice that specialized in Executive Benefit Solutions and Deferred Compensation Plans for executives at banks and hospitals. I went on to spend the next 10 years at Commonwealth Financial Network, a national Broker/Dealer, working on the Advanced Planning Team. This group was responsible for assisting over 1,500 advisors nationwide with complex financial planning solutions and building comprehensive wealth management plans for clients.

My expertise includes: Social Security planning, education planning, employee stock options, and executive benefits. David holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) designations from the American College of Financial Planning.

I currently reside in Topsfield, Massachusetts with my wife, Angela, and our two children, Cameron and Mia. When I'm not thinking about financial planning, I enjoy cycling, training for triathlons, kayaking, snowboarding, golfing, and coaching hockey.

  • In March 2016, I joined the team at Stonehearth Capital Management as a Client Service Associate. I transitioned to Stonehearth from John Hancock where I worked for over 32 years in the life insurance industry. It is my belief that no detail is too small, and that all of the smaller pieces help make the big picture. As a Client Service Associate, I prepare all client-related paperwork, provide client support, maintain client accounts, and assist administratively where needed.

When I am out of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. I also enjoys antiquing and checking out yard sales.

  • I joined Stonehearth Capital in May of 2022 with over a decade of experience in the industry. Although I grew up in the South Shore, when it came to college I opted for a change of scenery and warmer weather, attending the University of Tennessee.

After graduation, I moved back home and began my career in wealth management. My experience working in both large and small firms has allowed me to work with many different families and diverse backgrounds. During the past 10+ years, I gained an extensive background in personal wealth management and retirement planning in addition to becoming a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and obtaining my MBA.

I now reside in Dedham, with my wife Julie, two children (daughter, Zuzu, and son, JJ), and our dog, Smokey. In my spare time, when I am not rooting for my Tennessee Vols and New England Sports teams, you will find me on the local golf courses, playing hockey, or spending quality time outdoors with my family.
